Dr. Blumer earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (Class of 1991). She holds dual board certifications in family medicine from both the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP), and was conferred as a Fellow of the American Academy of Osteopathy (FAAO) in 2016 — a distinction recognizing advanced expertise and contributions to the osteopathic profession.

In her academic career, Dr. Blumer serves as Associate Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM) and Family Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences COMP-Northwest in Oregon. She is also a research mentor, having co-authored peer-reviewed articles in the Journal of Osteopathic Medicine and Post Reproductive Health, among other publications. Dr. Blumer received the Leonard Tow Award for Humanism in Medicine (2019) and the Distinguished Faculty Member Award for Teaching from Western University (2015).

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Blumer is the author of Strong Medicine: Honoring the Women Pioneers of Osteopathy and has served as Editor-in-Chief of the AAO Journal. She has published numerous scholarly articles, book chapters, and continuing medical education materials throughout her career. She also leads Health Point Writing, a medical writing practice serving medical organizations, journals, and industry.
